Why swap to recyclable wrapping paper?

In the UK we use around 227,000 miles of wrapping paper each year, with the average household getting through four rolls each. The bad news - over 83km2 of this will end up in our bins.

Many types of commercial wrapping paper are unsuitable for recycling because they're often laminated with plastic, foil or other non-paper materials. Wrapping paper is often also contaminated by sticky tape which is not recyclable and can disrupt the recycling process.
